Woody Allen and the Rabbi
Recently Woody Allen agreed to a $5 million settlement for his lawsuit the day the trail was to start in Manhattan. Allen had accused American Apparel of not gaining permission before using an image parodying him as a Rabbi.
The President of American Apparel, said the the insurance company controlled the defense in the case, and it was their decision to settle.
The original suit was for $10 million. The suit was based on Allen having control over how his image is used. The image was taken from the film, "Annie Hall" which depicted Allen in a black hat with a long beard and side curls.
The billboards in questions were taken down after one week. The American Apparel lawyers used this as part of their defense.
